Inside The Atom




    The above simulation shows the electrons moving about the atomic center of an atom. Notice that the moving dots are trying to show that the location of the electron may not be exactly determined. However, as we have learned, the energy level, or shell, that the electrons stay in may be determined by the amount of energy they release.


    The above orbital diagram shows a limited example of how the total number of electrons of a particular atom, obtained from the atom's Atomic Number, are distributed according to Aufbau's principle, Hund's rule, and the Pauli exclusion principle.
